WCA - ITOP - Wegerzyn Gardens Project

The Wegerzyn project is an impressive 4'x4' cube sculpture crafted from a combination of durable wood and creatively repurposed aluminum cans. This captivating piece is titled "Keep Growing" and plays a significant role in Wegerzyn's newly established garden theme, which beautifully reflects the concept of the passage of time. Each of the four sides of the sculpture  depicts the life cycle of a plant, emphasizing the essential elements that seeds require—water, sunlight, and, most importantly, time—to flourish and thrive. On the final side, the artwork depicts the transformation of a humble seed into a majestic full-grown tree, symbolizing growth and the beauty of nature's processes. Additionally, the sculpture includes images of butterflies, showcasing their vital role as important pollinators in our ecosystem and further enhancing the theme of interconnectedness in nature.

The Centerville ITOP students, part of We Care Art's TTW program, have been diligently engaged in the creation of this remarkable project, including its installation. They have collectively dedicated a  total of 10 hours each to contribute to this artistic endeavor. The students have been actively involved in every aspect of the project, beginning with the initial design sketches and priming surfaces to prepare them for the next steps. Their hard work culminated in the meticulous assembly of the can mosaic sides, which took place on-site at the Wegerzyn Children's Garden, resulting in a stunning piece of art that embodies both collaboration and creativity.

We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed their empty cans to support this wonderful project!
