Celebrating Ohio Arts Council Grant

We are thrilled to announce that We Care Arts has been awarded funds from the Ohio Arts Council to support three of our key programs: ArtWorks, Transition To Work (TTW), and Art Can Work (ACW). This generous grant will enable us to continue our mission of empowering individuals living with developmental disabilities, substance use disorders and mental health diagnoses, through the transformative power of art.

Transition To Work (TTW)

The Transition to Work program is a state-established initiative designed to assist students with special needs, aged 16 to 22, in transitioning from high school to employment and independent living. At We Care Arts, we enhance this essential in-school program by offering weekly art classes that reinforce vital life and job skills. We believe in the power of art to transform and prepare our participants for the journey ahead, equipping them with confidence and capabilities for their futures.

Art Can Work (ACW)

Art Can Work is designed to inspire creativity and skill-building. This program aligns with the Ohio state-mandated Special Education Transition to Work programs and the Ohio Department of Education Fine Arts teaching standards. ACW focuses on fostering abilities such as:

  • Following directions paired with creative problem-solving
  • Integrated visual and motor dexterity
  • Project, time, and resource management

The ACW Classroom Art Curriculum Set includes:

10 weeks of Lesson Plans featuring Cross-Curricular Connections Add-ons

Mindfulness Exercises to support wellness and Social-Emotional Learning

Adaptive Suggestions ensuring accessibility for diverse learning needs and ability levels

10 weeks of Art Supplies for up to 20 students and their teacher

10 follow-along video tutorials via special online channel links

ArtWorks

ArtWorks encompasses our in-person and virtual art classes, which occur Monday through Friday at the Berkeley Center Campus on Wilmington Pike and virtually online. These classes provide a space for creativity, learning, and community-building, ensuring that art is accessible to all who wish to participate.

We are incredibly grateful to the Ohio Arts Council for their continued support of our programs. This funding will allow us to expand our reach and impact, bringing the joy and healing power of art to even more individuals in our community. Thank you for believing in the work we do and for helping us make a difference.

Stay tuned for more updates and stories from our programs, and thank you for your continued support of We Care Arts!
