OUTREACH UPDATES: JULY

In June, we continued our partnership with the Piqua YMCA, holding our second quarterly class with them at the Richard E Hunt Activity Center. Participants and their aides created bird feeders out of craft sticks, twigs, and paint, working together to create a functional art piece that could stand on its own. At Eastway, our artist clients enjoyed a watercolor sticker-making class, with some participants creating an entire themed sticker pack!
In our final class with Onefifteen, participant Kayla T. shared with me how she has looked forward to the opportunity to create and decompress in our Outreach classes. She told me that she would look forward to Friday morning all week and sit by the window in the common area, waiting for me to come in. Below, she is pictured with her beach-themed cardboard relief sculpture.
Coming up in July, Outreach is looking forward to starting a summer course with SafeHaven in Piqua. SafeHaven is a peer center offering adults in need of mental health support educational, social, and vocational support in a safe environment. We Care Arts Outreach will be providing classes to SafeHaven biweekly through the beginning of September.
