Curator's Corner

Hello everyone,



I'm Lacey, the Art Curator here at We Care Arts, and I'm excited to share some wonderful updates with you this month!

Together We Care is off and running with all of our pairings working hard on their art pieces. We are going to have a great variety of artwork for our Gala, from sculptures to mixed media to paintings, I'm sure you will find something that speaks to you. Artwork will be completed in December and then we will get ready for the artwork to be displayed at Front Street before heading to our art auction and Gala. Stay tuned for more information on the art show and reception.

We've also had a busy past couple of months, with art being accepted into local art shows and our outreach art show. Tatyanna T. had a piece accepted into The Kids Are Alright Exhibit, located in the Dayton Arcade, and Dakota R. and Andi F. were accepted into Rosewood's 20th Annual Juried Height Width Depth Sculpture Exhibit. We also displayed H.E.A.R. ME at Dayton Society of Artists. H.E.A.R. ME was an exhibition organized by our Outreach Department, featuring work created through collaboration with organizations throughout the Dayton community. H.E.A.R. ME brought together work created in collaboration with ADAMHS, Brigid's Path, UMADAOP of Dayton, Stigma Is Out Of Style, and Premier Health.

A recent art display update has been my favorite. Our artist-clients were tasked with creating art without using typical art mediums. This collection of art was created with coffee. I thought these pieces would fit perfectly at Wholly Grounds. Framed in a variety of dark wood frames, they look like a perfect collection. Make sure to swing by Wholly Grounds on Wayne Avenue, get a coffee, and check out our coffee artwork!

Our rotating displays can currently be found at several wonderful locations, including Montgomery County Probate Court Resource Hub, Dayton Live Schuster Center, Eudora Brewhouse, Wholly Grounds, and 10 Wilmington Place Senior Center. Be sure to keep an eye out next time you pass through!
