Curator's Corner
Curator's Corner by Lacey Lantz
Hello everyone,
I’m Lacey, the Art Curator here at We Care Arts, and I’m excited to share some updates!
Our most recently completed Collective Curations project was created by Leadership Dayton Class of 2026 and We Care Arts artist-clients for the Dayton Foodbank. The piece was designed by our Programming Manager, Anna Brown.
Anna envisioned this artwork as a representation of the community coming together, hands supporting and uplifting one another, while the flowing ribbon of produce symbolizes the connections between the individuals, organizations, and resources that make the Foodbank's mission possible.
The two hands feature shaded details created with braided fabric that was dyed by our artist-clients. The ribbon was brought to life with a variety of brightly colored fruits and vegetables painted by members of Leadership Dayton.
The final installation features two-dimensional elements mounted at varying depths, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. Special thanks to our Woodshop Manager, Bob Suchland, whose craftsmanship brought the installation to life. The completed artwork is now installed at the Dayton Foodbank’s new Community Resource Center on its main campus.
This project is a testament to what can be accomplished when creativity, service, and community come together. We extend our sincere thanks to Leadership Dayton, the Dayton Foodbank, our dedicated staff, and our talented artist-clients for their collaboration, enthusiasm, and shared commitment to creating something meaningful. Together, you have created not only a work of art, but a lasting symbol of connection, compassion, and the strength of our community.
Thank you for your continued support of We Care Arts!
