Artist-Client of the Month: Teresa W.
Congratulations Teresa W. - August Artist-Client of the Month!
We are thrilled to announce that Teresa W. has been named our Artist-Client of the Month! Residing in the vibrant city of Dayton, Ohio, Teresa is not only a talented artist but also a lover of the great outdoors and a compassionate foster mom to kittens. She is a member of an online community known as Art Abandonment. Their mission is to leave small pieces of art in public spaces where they can be discovered, accompanied by a note of encouragement.
Teresa's artistic journey began at Wright State University, where she studied sculpture. This foundation has been instrumental in her development as an artist. At We Care Arts, Teresa has flourished in diverse mediums, specializing in hand-built ceramics, painting, and sewing. While she enjoys creating abstract paintings the most, she also has an appreciation for traditional styles.
One of Teresa's favorite creations is a slab-built vessel adorned with a variety of handles. This piece was an experimental endeavor that she feared might not survive the firing process. Much to her delight, it emerged intact, and she decided to keep it for herself, cherishing its "fantastic impracticality."
Teresa draws inspiration from nature and geometry, with dreams often serving as the muse for her pieces. When asked about her artistic goals, Teresa revealed her love for the creative process, stating, "I enjoy the process of creating more than having a finished product. I am always tickled when someone enjoys something I have made."
Teresa finds solace and joy in the supportive environment at We Care Arts. Here, she can work at her own pace, free from the pressures of deadlines and competition. This nurturing atmosphere allows Teresa to explore her creativity without constraints, making it a perfect fit for her artistic pursuits.
