We Care Art Receives $5,124 Grant from William's Gift to Support Transition To Work Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 8, 2024

Kettering, OH – We Care Art is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous grant totaling $5,124 from William's Gift. This funding is designated to bolster the Transition To Work program, dedicated to enhancing the career readiness of students in the Greater Miami Valley area.

Program Expansion and Impact

Transition to Work (TTW) programs are in-school programs established by the state. Special needs teachers provide instruction for students between the ages of 16 and 22 to prepare them for employment and a level of independent living after graduation from high school. We Care Arts supplements their experience by providing weekly art classes that reinforce crucial life and job skills at no cost to the district. WCA currently served fourteen schools in five counties with the TTW program in the 2023-24 school year and has grown to twenty schools for the 2024-25 school year.

In Miami County, participating high schools include:

  • Piqua High School
  • Bethel High School
  • Tippecanoe High School

Additionally, several schools across the Greater Miami Valley are also part of this initiative, including:

  • Beavercreek High School
  • Belmont High School
  • Centerville High School
  • Ponitz High School
  • Stebbins High School
  • Warren County ESC
  • Wayne High School
  • Stivers School for the Arts
  • Thurgood-Marshall High School

The program is excited to welcome new schools this fall, expanding its reach to include:

  • Dayton Charter Schools (DECA & Dayton Leadership Academy)
  • Miamisburg
  • Montgomery County ESC
  • West Carrollton
  • Xenia
  • Yellow Springs
