New Grants Feuling Our Impactful Programs
Celebrating October Grants
Centerville ITOP students in class at We Care Arts
We are thrilled to announce that We Care Arts has received generous grants from the Piqua Community Fund and the Vandalia Butler Foundation. These grants will bolster our ongoing efforts to support individuals across different stages of their lives through art-based education and collaboration.
Enhancing Transition To Work with Piqua Community Fund
The Piqua Community Fund has provided vital support for the Transition To Work initiative, a state-established program designed for students with special needs, aged 16 to 22. This program serves as a bridge for these young adults as they transition from high school to employment and independent living.
At We Care Arts, we enhance this essential initiative by offering weekly art classes that reinforce not only artistic skills but also vital life and job skills. Through the process of making art, participants engage in practical rehearsals of the habits and mindsets that will support their journey ahead.
Our program allows participants to practice the following:
- Confidence and Capability: By creating, trying, and sharing their work, participants build self-assurance in their abilities.
- Problem-Solving: As they make choices, adapt ideas, and find creative solutions, participants develop important problem-solving skills.
- Following Directions and Persistence: Completing a project from start to finish teaches persistence and the importance of following directions.
- Collaboration: Shared activities encourage communication and mutual encouragement, fostering a collaborative spirit.
These experiences are not just about preparing for life after high school; they are about celebrating and harnessing the strengths that participants already possess.
Expanding Outreach with the Vanalia Butler Foundation
In addition to supporting young adults, our work is expanding to include outreach efforts at the Vandalia Senior Center, thanks to the generous grant from the Vanalia Butler Foundation. This funding will allow us to extend our mission of empowering individuals through art by engaging the senior community in meaningful creative activities. These programs are designed to inspire, connect, and enrich the lives of seniors through the power of art.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Piqua Community Fund and the Vanalia Butler Foundation for their support. Their commitment to community enrichment and empowerment is invaluable, and it allows us to continue making a difference in the lives of many.
Stay tuned for more updates and stories from our programs as we continue to grow and serve our community through the transformative power of art. Together, we are building a future where creativity and collaboration pave the way for a more inclusive and vibrant society.
